Privacy Policy

rev.chat is a document-grounded chat tool for websites. We try to collect as little data as possible while still being able to run your bot, capture leads for you, and bill correctly. This page explains what we collect, why, and who we share it with.

What we collect

Account data: email address, optional name, and Google profile basics if you sign in with Google.
Workspace data: bot configuration, knowledge sources you upload (URLs, PDFs, text), and bot personalisation you save.
Visitor data: messages sent to your bot, the page URL the bot was embedded on, an opaque visitor ID we generate, and the visitor's user-agent string. We do not set tracking cookies on your visitors.
Lead data: name, email, phone, and any custom fields your pre-chat or post-chat capture form requests.
Operational logs: HTTP requests, error stack traces, and per-conversation metering counters.
Website analytics (rev.chat only): on our marketing site we collect anonymous page views and basic traffic data via BetterFound — not on customer embed widgets.

How we use it

Run the product: serve your bot's replies, route captured leads to your inbox, and meter usage against your plan.
Bill correctly: count conversations and lead captures so we can show you accurate usage and invoice you (or stay on free).
Improve the service: investigate bugs and abuse reports. We do not train any AI model on your data or your visitors' data.
Measure our marketing site: understand how people find and use rev.chat so we can improve the homepage and pricing pages.

Who we share it with

OpenRouter (LLM inference): each visitor message is sent to the model you've selected, through OpenRouter, to generate a reply.
Stripe (billing): we share your billing email and subscription identifiers with Stripe so they can process payments and present invoices.
Resend (email): magic-link sign-in emails and lead notification emails are delivered through Resend.
Neon (database): Postgres hosting for everything above.
BetterFound (website analytics): anonymous traffic measurement on rev.chat marketing pages only — page views, referrers, and similar usage signals. Not loaded on customer widget embeds.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertising networks.

Retention

Workspace data and lead data are retained for as long as your workspace exists, then for up to 30 days after deletion so we can recover from operational errors.
Operational logs are retained for up to 90 days.
You can export your captured leads as CSV at any time from your dashboard.

Your rights

Access, export, correction, or deletion: email hello@rev.chat from the address on your account and we'll action it within 30 days.
If you're a visitor to a customer's site, contact the site owner first — they're the data controller for that interaction; rev.chat acts as their processor.

Cookies

We use a first-party session cookie on the rev.chat dashboard to keep you signed in.
On our marketing site (rev.chat homepage, pricing, etc.) we load BetterFound analytics — a privacy-focused traffic tool, not an ad network. It does not use advertising cookies and is not loaded on customer chat widgets.
